What should I do if I'm experiencing side effects or adverse reactions to my medication?

Steps to take if you're having side effects or adverse reactions on a GLP-1, including emergency guidance, dose adjustments, pause, switch, or cancel options.

If you're experiencing side effects or adverse reactions to your GLP-1 medication, your safety is our top priority. Here's what to do.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency

Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Examples include severe allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, signs of pancreatitis, or any symptom that feels life-threatening.

For non-emergency side effects or adverse reactions

Let our Patient Success Team know, and tell us:

  • What symptoms you're experiencing

  • When the symptoms started

  • Whether you've been able to continue taking your medication

Our team will coordinate with your provider to determine the best next step. This may include:

  • Adjusting your dose to a lower amount

  • Pausing your treatment temporarily

  • Switching to a different medication

  • Cancelling your treatment plan entirely

Common side effects that are usually temporary

Nausea, fatigue, and mild GI discomfort are common when starting GLP-1 medications or increasing your dose. These often improve within the first 1–2 weeks at a new dose level. For practical tips on managing these, see How can I manage common GLP-1 side effects?

If you want to stop treatment entirely

You can cancel your membership at any time through your Patient Portal. See Belle's cancellation and refund policy for step-by-step instructions and refund details. If you've already received medication you can't use, let our Patient Success Team know and we'll go over your options.

Will I be charged for future orders? No. Once your membership is cancelled, no future orders will be placed and no further charges will apply.
