How Dosing and Titration Work

Explains dose increases, weekly injections, titration schedule, and how dosing affects results.

Updated this week

IMPORTANT: Always read the instruction label on the bottle you receive from the pharmacy to find the dose you have been prescribed.

GLP-1 therapy starts low and slow to help your body adapt and to reduce side effects. Titration means gradually increasing the dose on a schedule set by your clinician.

Why “low and slow”?

  • Reduces nausea and GI symptoms

  • Helps you learn new hunger/fullness cues

  • Improves long-term adherence (and results)

Typical dose titration

  • There are standard dosing plans that Belle medical providers recommend. There are also customized plans that the Belle will help you with to find the optimal dose for you. You can always email Belle at [email protected] to get feedback on the right dose for you

  • Introductory dose for 4 weeks (or longer if needed)

  • Incremental increases every 4+ weeks until you reach a maintenance dose

Missed dose GLP-1 (general tips)

  • If you’re within the product’s allowed window, take it when remembered; otherwise skip and resume your usual day

  • Don’t double up - 2 full doses within 7 days

  • When unsure, message us for specific instructions

When to hold or delay

  • After procedures, significant illness with vomiting, or if you’re experiencing severe side effects—check in with us.

Side-effect minimizers

  • Small, slow meals, protein first

  • Hydration 2–3 L/day; consider electrolytes during hot days or travel

  • Gentle movement (post-meal walks)

  • Use prescribed ondansetron if needed
